![]() Home torpedoes do not home on an active ping. Both the Mk 28 and Mk 29 had a maximum range of 4000 yards at 19.6knts. The Mk 28 was in service with the US subs until replaced by the Mk 37 in or around 1969. The Mk 28 (like the Mk 29) were both electric passive homing torpedoes. The Mk 29 they are using on the Gato never saw full scale production, it was canceled the same year it was developed. The Mk 14 had a 7,000 yard effective range at 46Knts and was replaced by the Mk 16 and Mk 18s in the latter part of WW2, though some remained in service for older class submarines. Mk 18, an electric torpedo had a maximum range of 4000 yards at 29knts. ![]() The Mk 14 had a 7,000 yard effective range at 46Knts. Their effective ranges 14,000 yards (Mk 16 at 46knts). No submarine torpedo used by the US submarine service during or after WW2 could reach speeds above 46ktns until the MK 48. ![]() :-)Īnd yes, hybrid Submarines, such as the I-400 and big-gunned Submarines such as the Surcouf would be welcomed in my Port, too. I also want the Arpeggio of Blue Steel I-401 introduced into World of Warships, so that I can assign my Commander Iona as her Captain.įiring a "shotgun" and getting the special-effects of the "super gravity cannon" would be a huge bonus.īut, I'll probably just have to be happy with the normal ARP torpedo explosion visual effects. Making the I-56 work well in Convoy Mode or Random battle mode has been a challenge because of her huge (for a submarine) detection radius (7+km). I already have the Shikishima and the I-56. The question for me is whether or not to do so before welcoming the Bourgogne. ![]() I'm looking forward to welcoming the Gato to my Port. It'd be nice to score some deck-gun hits. I frequently find myself in situations where I've run out of dive-time and have a surplus of opponents. The deck-gun is welcome, as far as I am concerned. She's a decent, but not overpowered 'Bote. My impression of the Gato is that she's desireable for her historic connections. ![]() Tagging the hope that he'll pass along this idea. While we're looking at your equipment screen, and the signal flags, I'm wondering when there will be a signal flag to increase the dive-capacity of a submarine? It's because the math is easier to program and the changes made by hull-equipment or Captain's skill are easier to display. I'll offer my guess as a possible answer. You mentioned not understanding why the dive-capacity is listed in units instead of minutes and seconds. ![]()
